Now that the new game, "Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach" is finally out, it was interesting to see the kinds of changes for the franchise that they made. Not only do we get some extra world-building lore about how Fazbear Entertainment still keeps working as a major business (despite the controversies and morbid history), but we also get a new view of how the animatronics act as characters. Before, we just saw them as antagonists or typical enemies that were trying to break into the security office to kill us or worse. Now, the manufacturers seem to have given them Genuine People Personality (GPP) Drives, making them more like.... well... characters in the story. As much as this makes them more entertaining for the story and the guests that visit the Mega Pizzaplex, the results seem rather bleak for these robots themselves. It's clear they didn't read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" to see why doing this is a bad idea. So, let's see what Fazbear Entertainment did to these robots shall we?

Glamrock Chica

Most fans of the franchise remembers this chicken. Fazbear entertainment seemed to like portraying her as either the token "fatso" or "girl" in the past with Freddy's group of friends. That is, if you read her classic "Let's eat!" bib, how much pizza she eats in the cartoons, or how they built some of her iterations with a more feminine figure. Anything else we could learn about her seemed to be suggested from the cupcake, where she would bring in a sweet treat to a birthday party. The crew in this game seems to have given her a personality that combines elements from the two tropes, while also making it to where she likes to practice for the show on her free time. Sure, she seems like she's a nice animatronic for guests to meet for a photo op, a small birthday gift, or even a quick jam session with her guitar. However, she has some glaring problems noticed by the staff and upper management. The biggest one is that she seems to be suffering from pica.

Pica is a mental illness, where an individual is afflicted with the compulsion to eat objects with either no nutritional value or just should not be used as food at all. This can range from something as harmless as ice cubes to things as dangerous as nails and broken glass. It seems Chica was hit with this problem while the crew intended her to just eat some of their pizza, probably to improve sales or have her join guests at the table. Whatever they were planning, it backfired where Chica started eating more things than just pizza. As described in the messages and what we find behind the scenes, she seems to have a compulsion to devour garbage and other forms of waste around the Pizzaplex. They probably should have seen this coming since, as a robot, Chica doesn't gain anything from eating in general except getting grease and cheese in her circuits.

This habit may also become a problem for guests. I think I would lose my appetite in this mall, if Chica came out to say "hi" while she smelled like the dumpster she just raided a few minutes ago. Don't even get me started on how many health code violations she might cause from whatever she picked up from there! Forget when she was reprogrammed to attack and catch a child! It's clear the real nightmare she brings is for the crew in the Pizzaplex as they have to make sure she stays clean and stays out of the waste bins! Monty Gator

Montgomery Gator is probably one of the more dangerous animatronics to work with or to have guests meet off the stage. Since he's new, we don't get much to learn about him outside of the fact that he is extremely violent. When his room is seen at the beginning of the game, it's completely dark and closed off and he can be heard trashing the place inside.

This brings up a few issues I have with how the Pizzaplex is managing this problem. First off, why didn't they just shut him off? Sure, we can speculate that Vanny switched him on to hunt down Gregory and hacked him to be a killer. However, the signs around his room show that the crew is already aware of this problem and it seems nothing is being done about it. If Monty was causing hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in damage with one of his triggered violent outbursts and he's safely away from the guests, it would seem to be a good idea to have him shut down to stop him from raising expenses or cause casualties. It's almost like they lacked the foresight to have a kill switch on him to prevent him from being a hazard. Are we sure Freddy should be the one on low power for safety purposes? Another issue I have is the fact that they thought it was a good idea to upgrade him with new claws. Who approved of this? Did Vanny hack the instructions for parts and maintenance too? Did no one question how much more dangerous this thing would become after that? These guys apparently didn't watch "Jurassic World" either, because I was expecting some twist where the animatronics might end up being used as weapons for the military. These decisions make no sense!

As a guest, I would be concerned of bringing kids to an establishment that blatantly does the bare minimum of keeping everyone safe from a malfunctioning robot. As an employee, I would be worried someone could get hurt or worse, if he gets out of his room and a guest looks at him the wrong way. As a crew member, I would be asking a lot more questions on why we don't just let this guy take a nap after the show.

Roxy Roxanne Wolf is a real piece of work when it comes to these personalities. When seen on stage or outside her room, she seems to be very confident and boastful. However, her words while looking for Gregory suggest points to where she is toxic and seems to be projecting on others. She also seems competitive, determined to prove to those observing her that she is "the best" even if she is outsmarted time and time again. When not observed in her room, she seems to spend hours in front of the mirror, giving herself compliments and reassuring her delusions to avoid accepting failure or defeat.

Some of these symptoms indicate Roxy may have developed a "cluster B" personality disorder as a result of low self esteem. I don't claim to be a psychiatrist or any doctor that can make a diagnosis on which specific disorder she has, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt on that. Despite that, I think she might have histrionic personality disorder since she wants to be the center of attention and is motivated by compliments or confirmation of approval. Based on her monologues, she also cares about her appearance to get more of what she wants. If she really does have this though, she was thankfully not programmed with the symptoms that would push her to do inappropriate behavior around children. This is a "family friendly" establishment after all.

I can imagine that, even with this mental illness, she would be at least easier to work with as long as the guests are around to give her the attention she craves. She'd probably entertain families with her cartoonishly self-centered personality or know how to make a some pretty awesome photos to take home or share on your posts. However, when those adoring eyes are gone or when someone else gets the spotlight, I can imagine she would become less endearing with the kind of venom she spits from that maw. Her desire for approval is also a factor on why she ended up being very determined to capture Gregory. She probably didn't need any reprogramming to be convinced to do that.

So, we have a self-absorbed robot that can't seem to function without her fragile ego being attended to that can easily be manipulated by a member of staff to commit crimes, which includes kidnapping or worse? That is pretty bad for an attraction that brings in tons of kids every day. Oddly, I still feel that's better than biting off their frontal lobes like one particular bot she replaced did.

Sun and Moon

Speaking of things bad for kids, how about we put them in the same room as a maniac with a split personality and have them spend the night? Sun and Moon are the two personalities that reside in the animatronic that watches over the daycare area of the Pizzaplex. While the lights are on, Sun is active and is overly enthusiastic about entertaining toddlers and other small children with activities or chugging soda. He also seems to use a lot of his energy to make sure the play area is clean and more organized. While the lights are off, Moon takes over and hunts in the dark for children that are out of their sleeping areas. He seems to take some sadistic pleasure with catching children that are breaking the rules at night, while also making sure the daycare is neat and tidy for the opening hours.

This looks like a classic case of dissociative identity disorder with the drastic changes in this bot's personality while the lights switch on and off. However, it seems things are made worse with the addition of mania to the equation. Both personalities are overly enthusiastic in what they do, how they do it, and how much concern they have over it. Given how manic the two faces are, I almost thought they could even be bipolar but they seem to not be programmed to have depression or at least they don't seem to show that while Gregory is watching.

The game already discusses the effects this two-faced monstrosity has on children through the customer complaints that Gregory collects around the Pizzaplex. This animatronic traumatizes the kids that are unfortunate enough to be left spending the night at this place! By day, Sun keeps piling up activities and things to do nonstop-without rest, until it's lights out. By night, they can't even get up to go to the restroom without putting themselves in a game of cat and mouse with Moon. If I had a kid of my own, I would keep them far away from this part of the mall!

Freddy Fazbear

After everything that I've seen with the other animatronics in this place, I am glad to see that there is at least one animatronic with a decent personality and that is the star attraction of the Pizzaplex, the namesake of the franchise, Freddy. This anthropomorphic bear with the bowtie and top hat has been the face of Fazbear Entertainment since the early days with the family diner. Back in previous games, his many iterations played the part of some of the more difficult enemies or ones that waited until the power was out to attack. This version of him takes the role of an ally. An animatronic that is actively working to save our life? What manner of madness be this?

Freddy's personality seems to be very well mannered, professional, and empathetic. He really seems to care about others, despite their flaws, and is willing to help Gregory escape the Pizzaplex even though his records are not in the system. He also considers the other animatronics to be his friends and worries about them when Gregory has to harm them for their parts. You can easily forgive him for defying the authorities around the mall since you know he's doing it for a good reason. He also seems to be a little more self aware of the fact he's an animatronic and what his limitations are. This makes him a lot more rational than the others. Certainly more rational than the establishment he's working for.

If I was bringing kids to the Pizzaplex and I knew what kinds of quirks the animatronics have, it's clear that Freddy is the number one choice to bring in for birthday parties without traumatizing kids. Plus the oversized cakes and piñatas he carries in are a bonus! The others can go and be some other party's problem!

The Legend of the Sword and Shield (Based on the Sword in the Stone)

A legend is sung
of when Galar was young
and knights were brave
and bold!

The last king had died
and no one could decide
who was rightful heir
to the throne.

It seemed that the land
would be torn by war.
Only by a miracle they'd yield.

And two miracles appeared
in Wyndon Town!
The Sword and the Shield.

------------------------------------
And below the hilt of the sword and on the shield's back were written these words: "Whoso pulleth out this sword and shield from this pedestal, shall be rightwise king or queen, born of Galar. The realm shall then be ruled under one voice, one humble heart, one will. But there shall be no one."
------------------------------------

Though many have tried
to pull the arms with all their might.
No knight or lady
did succeed.

The blade and plate
would not budge
from their resting place.

Their secret
they could not
understand.

The ones who were meant
to rule the land
and worthy of the throne.

They will seek the arms
with a humble heart
and not for themselves alone.

They will be the ones
who were born to wield
the Sword and the Shield!

------------------------------------

Many years have passed and the miracles did not work. The people have given up hope and the wondrous arms were forgotten. This was a dark age, when the land was divided by several provinces. All was in chaos.

Swords clashed, blood of man and pokemon were spilled, and elemental forces ravaged the land. Only a few areas remain unscathed in the region. However, there is still no peace. Strange stones have begun to fall out of the sky and rumors of giant pokemon have been whispered among the serfs and peasants. They say it could warn of the end of days.

All your life, you have known nothing of what it was like before these dangerous times. Wild pokemon attacks, bandits, invaders, and the occasional Viking all seemed like everyday occurences. Little did you know that things would go from bad to worse and it will be up to you and one other to save the realm.

Kozakura RP

3 min read

This is a fantasy-based RP that will take place in the Kozakura setting in the "Forgotten Realms". No knowledge of the setting is required as the majority of it is based on Japanese mythology in a period that is similar to the feudal era. However, in the case that some background is needed, it is a set of islands that have been torn by war. After the emperor stepped down to entrust his country to the Hojo Clan, a rival force rose as the Takenaka Clan to challenge them for the title of "Shogun". For over a century, the clans spilled each other's blood across the fields with katanas, arrows, and spears. Despite the slaughter, the common people of Kozakura live very peaceful lives, often working in rice fields for the samurai or as merchants with various goods. Even then, the land is still dangerous with bandits, invading clans, and the occasional yokai. This creates a land of adventure for both locals and gaijin alike.

Below is a list of characters that I plan to play as for this setting.

- Tatsu (Human Ronin): A samurai that betrayed his master. He now wanders the land, seeking purpose in his life before he dies in dishonor.

- Shun (Human Shinobi): A spy for hire. He only does business with those who know to write their request on the bark of a specific tree with with instructions of where to meet. He's gathering funds for his clan to battle against a rival clan that sided with the Takenaka.

- Kozu (Half-Elf Monk): Left alone as a child with no knowledge of his past self, Kozu was raised by a sect of monks that conceal their faces, known as "komusou". In return, he joined their ranks and collects donations for the monastery. One day, he was sent off on a journey of the utmost importance. Now he travels from town to town, playing his flute to earn a bite to eat each day.

- Benkei (Ogrillon Sohei): Left on the doorstep of a monastery as a baby, the hideous half-ogre child trained as a sohei (warrior monk) to protect his new guardians. However, his violence grew too great for him to keep the place safe. So, he was cast out in the world, left to be someone else's problem. He has decided to make his own monastery, but the only thing it lacks is a big bell to ring for his rituals. So, he seeks to collect 1,000 weapons to make it.

This is another one of my impromptu ideas I want to try out in terms of internet roleplays. So, take what you will of it. The plot will be similar to the idea I've had earlier about "The Adventurers", my trio of characters, trying to make a living in the world by starting a guild.

Brandis: A former soldier of a lost kingdom. He keeps a level head and is often the bond that holds the trio together. He is also the one who leads the party into their quests and battles. However, he seems to be suffering from inner demons from his past and is reluctant to let others form close relationships with him.

Mythander: An elven bard of unknown origin. He is often the face of the trio, being the one who helps get potential clients and money to fund the guild. Though he makes fine music and tells great stories, he is still cursed with a weakness for pretty faces.

Dovin: A dwarf from the diamond mines in the western mountains. This is a dwarf that appreciates many good things in life to his kind, such as mining, battles, ale, and stout women. He sees the benefits of the guild as a means to get all of these and isn't ashamed to tell anyone he meets. Unfortunately, given his heavy drinking, he sometimes gets the trio in a lot of trouble. His short temper even gave him an unfavorable nickname at the old mine he worked at.

The difference with this idea is that they find themselves involved with scenarios from old fairy tales, fables, and adventures that have been told many times over. Ones told by The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and the "1001 Arabian Nights" become reimagined as the trio try to strike it rich in a world of fantasy and adventure.

Where do you fit in all this? You can help decide the story that these characters enter and some of the people they meet. If you're interested, send a note after reading the rules and we'll discuss how it all goes down.

Rules
1.) I don't mind how frequently you reply. I often disappear myself to handle current situations in my life or career. So, take the time you need, especially if you have writer's block.

2.) Not sure how long to write a post? I'm pretty lenient on post lengths and I'm not too particular. Just make it as long or short as you need to describe what your characters are doing.

3.) I'm not too much of a grammar Nazi online, but please make sure it's written in a way I can understand it well enough to where I can make a proper reply.

4.) If you want to go into mature territory, please verify that you are over the age of 18. Mature themes include excessive blood & gore, sex, strong language, and heavy drug and alcohol use. For anyone underage, we'll keep these strictly moderate or nonexistent.

5.) Put "Adventurer's Guild" in the subject after reading. All other notes will be ignored.

I went to see the new Pokemon movie and I gotta say that they didn't disappoint me with this one! This was a film that knew that much of the audience that was going to watch it grew up with the franchise in the 90's. What made it even better was that they put some care into the project to build the world around Rhyme City with Pokemon's lore and creating a community with the pocket monsters integrated into it. Sprinkle that with some decent characterizations of the species they decided to show, and you have a world that is more alive (Mr. Mime was the most entertaining)! On top of it all, Ryan Reynolds really did well to make me smile and chuckle at the antics of the electric mouse.

It was even interesting to see them do more with Ditto. In the anime, I've seen it change into inanimate objects, instead of other Pokemon, but I was left wondering if it was capable of changing into humans. Well, the movie answered that query. Plus, in human form, it can use hand-to-hand combat. However, this opens a new can of worms about its biology that I'm not going to touch upon here.

The only complaint I have so far from the initial viewing is the different twists on what the laboratory was doing to Pokemon that wasn't touched upon again. Seriously, there are torterras, the size of a mountain range, outside the city! Nobody's going to make any new safety measures or acknowledge how dangerous that can potentially be to the community or the environment?! Not to mention the genetically enhanced greninjas on the loose!

Speaking of the laboratory, there was an interesting nod to the first movie with the conspiracy around Mewtwo. It looks like they decided to keep the lore of his origins, where he was cloned from a Mew fossil, instead of a living specimen that was talked about in the Burned Mansion's journals.

Overall, this was probably the best Pokemon or video game-based movie I have ever seen. If this was shown, while I was still a kid, it would have blown my mind to see live-action characters with the mons! Granted, with how the first movie was like at the time, it probably wouldn't have been as good as the way it is now. If you haven't grown up with the franchise or stopped liking it, this might be something fun for your kids to watch. However, if you are still nostalgic for it or a fan, get off your screen and head to the theater now! You can't go wrong with seeing it for yourself!
